I began my 2nd Inning as Chief Investment Officer - Fixed Income with Edelweiss Mutual Fund from Oct 20, 2016. Prior to that, I was an EVP & Head - Fixed Income at DSP BLK Mutual Fund (now DSP IM) since 1998. I led a team of Fund Managers and managed ~INR220 billion of FI assets across the maturity and IG credit spectrum. At Edelweiss AMC, apart from steering actively managed FI funds and generating long term track record of stellar performance, I played a pivotal role in conceptualization, design and launch of BHARAT Bond ETF (BBETF), a GOI initiated first true corporate bond ETF, in late 2019. BBETF have been transformational in attracting Retail/HNI inflows into bond markets for their long term FI allocation. The BBETF program and successful launch of private label Bond Index Funds have ushered Edelweiss AMC into #1 in Passive FI Fund Category & help raise its rank of aggregate AUM to #12 by Oct 22. As on Feb ‘23, total AUM of FI funds has crossed INR700 billion ($8.5 billion) among six BBETFs and 12 Index Funds. I began my career in fixed income at Merrill Lynch Asset Management in USA in 1996, worked for two years at various desks and gained experience in different investment strategies, trading in money market assets and govt bonds, managing liquidity & credit risks, as well as generating risk-adjusted returns. I returned home in 1998 and joined DSP Merrill Lynch Asset Management, now known as DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund. I played an instrumental role in growing fixed income assets from around INR1 billion in 1998 to around INR250 billion as on July 2016 invested across 15 unique FI & hybrid schemes comprising 55% of total assets. I have established a long-term track record of generating consistent & positive risk-adjusted returns over various time intervals & business cycles. I served on the Executive Committee of DSP BLK MF. I am an active member of the AMFI Valuation Committee since 2000 and have contributed to shaping important regulatory framework for fixed income mutual funds. I am a keen student of ever-changing markets. I believe in adaptive investment approach. I have a flexible & collaborative attitude towards investments - aimed at protecting the downside risk. It has served investors well in volatile market conditions. My affable investment approach has been widely appreciated by a set of investors and many of my funds have won several awards, recognitions and nominations. I regularly appear on TV & newspapers and active on social media. I also participate in various panel discussions on the bond market and market forums.
